OPI - Jade Is The New Black

>> September 13, 2010

I've been in a green mood lately, where all I want to wear is green nail polish!
Currently I have China Glaze Four Leaf Clover on my toes, which has been on my toes 3 times in the past 2 months! I love it!

I've been anxious to try out Jade Is The New Black from the Hong Kong Collection ever since I received it in the mail with my Trans Design order months ago.

I also finally found Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat! It's so hard to find some polishes in Canada! I found Seche Vite in a beauty supply shop that's right beside my university (it also always has older Essie polishes on sale for $3.99!:D)

Base - Revlon Post Trauma Nail Treatment
2 coats of Jade is the New Black
Top Coat - Seche Vite

Confetti!

>> September 11, 2010

Just an ugly mani I did a few weeks back!
This would be perfect to wear if you were 6 years old and it was your birthday party! Haha.

For this I used H&M Pure White for the base, and NYC Silver Spell on top.

I was digging though my old nail polish collection I had from yeaaaars ago, and found a whole lot of old NYC polishes. I never liked the, because the old formula was terrible and very sheer, but I decided to test out this one since it looked so unique in the bottle!...
It was very hard to work with. :( The glitter was so hard to transfer, it took 3 coats just for this sad amount of glitter!
But it did last a long time (unfortunately lol) I was too lazy to take off my polish that week, so I had this on for 5 days with no chips.

Elf - New Product Review & Swatches

>> August 27, 2010

I don't want to focus 100% on nail polishes in my blog, I want to talk about makeup, skin care & other things as well!
So for my first non-nail polish related post, I decided to share with you swatches of some new products Elf has recently released, as well as my opinion on these products!
I love Elf products for a) their super affordable price, and b) their great quality! I'd say 90% of what I have ordered from them I am very happy with, and I have ordered a lot. These were included in my second (but huge) order from Elf, which I received early last week.

I love bright eyeliners, so I decided to try out their new Shimmer Eyeliner Pencils (which come in fantastic colours, by the way!). I also wanted to try out their new $1 lipsticks, but when I went to order, only one was left in stock.

Shimmer Eyeliner Pencils: Iconic Ivory, Precious Pink, Blissful Blush, Bodly Bronzed, Grassy Green, Twinkle Teal, Plum Passion
Lipstick: Voodoo

I skipped out on the gray and black liner pencils, since I already own enough grays&blacks

Iconic Ivory, Precious Pink, Blissful Blush, Bodly Bronzed, Grassy Green, Twinkle Teal, Plum Passion, Voodoo

I am very, very impressed with the Shimmer Eyeliners. I've worn these many times since they came in the mail, and they last all day. I've worn these with and without eye primers, outside all day in humid weather, and even in a hot tub. They don't budge. They fade a tiny bit if I wear them for the entire day, but they don't smudge on me at all!
They are a little shimmery, but not overly shimmery. Iconic Ivory, Precious Pink & Blissful Blush are definitely the most shimmery out of the bunch, while the others are more dull, yet still vibrant colours.
(I don't wear eyeliner on my waterline, so I haven't tried these on my waterline. If you're looking to use these on your waterline, I don't know how they hold up).

As for the lipstick, this colour is super pigmented! It applies really smoothly, and smells amazing. It reminds me of these little white candy dog bones I used to get in those really old Puppy in my Pocket toys.. does anybody remember those?? I used to be obsessed with them when I was little!! And the kitty ones! Those candy bones were so good!! Haha.
Okay anyways....
This lipstick wears well for $1 as well, it's not the longest lasting, but it doesn't smudge either. Once it fades, it gives a nice lip tint.

All of these products sell for $1 each on www.eyeslipsface.com

In the near future, I will post 3 lists of my top 5 favourite elf makeup products, essentials & nail products, so if you're interested in elf products, stay tuned for that! :)

Purple Tips

>> August 15, 2010

I've been pretty sick the past week and a bit. Long story short, my allergies hit big time after this massive weed/wild flower patch was cut down right beside my house -__- That happened the day before I went up north to Wakestock, which was held in an area surrounded by the country - that didn't help my allergies either haha.

I have really bad allergies too, so when they act up, I'm pretty much immobile until I start to feel better. So I didn't feel like doing my nails until yesterday.
Last night I had an event to go to, so I wanted a manicure that would match my dress. I decided to try out Color Club's Pucci-Licious, which I've been dying to try since it came in the mail a month ago. It's too dark for summer in my opinion, so I decided to do a french tip with it instead.

The base colour is done in China Glaze's Moonlight - a sheer white I like to wear alone as well.

I used regular scotch tape to make my mani, so it didn't turn out perfect, but it was good enough for what I wanted. I painted the tips of my thumb nails on an angle.

(I couldn't sleep after I got home from the event last night, so I had fun with my camera haha)

The dress I wore - the colour of my nails matched the purple almost exactly! Score!

On another note,
I've been looking at swatches of Models Own polishes lately, and I really want to order some now! Does anyone have any of their polishes? Or any suggestions on which shades I should order? :)

Color Club Review & Who Are You Wearing?

>> August 4, 2010

Sadly, I only own 3 Color Club nail polishes, since I was recently introducted to this brand. The 3 I own are from my Trans Design haul, but now I want to order more!

Love 'Em/Leave 'Em, Who Are You Wearing?, Pucci-Licious

I've heard so many great things about Color Club, so naturally I was super excited to try out this nail polish!
(When these polishes first arrived in the mail, I applied Love 'Em/Leave 'Em, just to text out the formula & drying time.)

I decided to try Who Are You Wearing?, which is a very pretty pale, pale lavender gray.

Who Are You Wearing? - 3 coats & top coat
This was photographed today, which is actually the 3rd day I've had this on! And there are no chips yet - not even any tip wear.

I really like the formula of these polishes. They go on really smooth, and don't bubble at all! This shade was a little sheer though, and required 3 coats to achieve the same colour as the bottle, which isn't that bad.

They dry pretty quickly, too. My mom has weird nails - it takes hours for polishes to dry on her nails, and sometimes, they're still tacky the next day! She tried on Love 'Em/Leave 'Em, and within 15 minutes, it was dry to the touch!

Now I need to order more colours!! There are so many nice shades Color Club carries, and they seem to last a long time without chipping! :)

China Glaze - Loves & Hates

I love China Glaze polishes. It's one of my favourite brands :) The application, for most of the polishes I've tried (give or take a couple) is very smooth and even, and doesn't bubble for the most part. Except for this one yellow I bought, which was absolutely horrible! I purchased this yellow because the colour was gorgeous & looked like sunshine :), and I wanted to try out the formula.

As you all know, it's very hard to find a good yellow nail polish with a good formula. The program I am in deals mainly with the printing industry, and I work with a lot of pigments, with yellow being the hardest pigment to work with.

Anyways, the yellow I purchased was Happy Go Lucky. I love the colour, but it bubbled so much. :( I'm actually really disappointed lol

This shows you how badly it bubbled, considering this was the finger that had the least bubbling hahaha D:

So overall, this polish sucked, and made me sad. I'm still on the search to find a nice yellow formula!
Does anybody know of any nice yellows that have a good forumla??

This colour is one of my favourite polishes ever. It's called Peachy Keen.

It's the perfect balance between a pink & yellow peach colour, unlike other peach polishes that tend to lean towards one or the other. There's not too much pink or yellow, and it's perfect for spring & summer! The application was amazing too, and it didn't bubble at all (unlike Happy Go Lucky)

I'm sorry for the poor quality photos, I couldn't find my memory card for my DSLR the week I photographed these.

More CG & other swatches coming soon!:)
